7 Best Camping Cocktails
Imagine yourself passing a midsummer night by the campfire. You’re with your friends and family and it’s the last night of another great camping trip. Why not savor that moment and impress those friends and family with some of your mixology skills. If you don’t have a favorite go-to cocktail or you’re just looking to spice up the variety, below are seven excellent recipes that will be the cherry on top to another successful camping getaway.
Don’t be like me and forget the corkscrew, especially if you’re making the Cowboy Sangria. These cocktails require minimal ingredients but I do suggest bringing along some extra materials to make these cocktails correctly.
Camping Packing List (Mixology Version) :
- Cocktail shaker
- Strainer
- Jiggers
- Cork Screw
- Muddler
Cowboy Sangria
Ingredients
2 Oz. of Rye Whiskey
¾ Oz. Pinot Noir Wine
½ Oz. Black Currant Liqueur
½ Oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
Lemon Wedge for Garnish
Instructions
1. Pour the rye whiskey, Pinot Noir, black currant liqueur, and fresh lemon juice in a glass full of ice.
2. Stir the drink (the Morsel stirs real well...just sayin'), and garnish with a lemon wedge.
Tequila Sundown
Ingredients
2 Oz. Tequila
4 Oz. Grapefruit Soda
1 Oz. Rose Wine
1 Oz. Lime Juice
2-3 Sprigs of Thyme for Garnish
Chili Lime Salt
Grapefruit Wedge for Garnish
Instructions
- Rub a lime wedge on the edge of a glass.
- Pour some chili lime salt on a plate, and lightly rub the edge of the glass on the salt.
- Pour the tequila, grapefruit soda, rose wine, and lime juice in a shaker filled with ice.
- Shake for five seconds.
- Pour the mixture in the glass rimmed with salt.
- Garnish with a thyme sprig and a grapefruit wedge.
Rosemary Blackberry Spritzer
Ingredients
2 Oz. Vodka
6 Blackberries Crushed
½ Oz of rosemary simple syrup
Seltzer water
Instructions
- To make the rosemary syrup, combine equal parts water and sugar in a pot. Add several sprigs of fresh rosemary. Heat mixture until just barely simmering and remove from heat. Let the syrup steep for 10 minutes, and then remove the rosemary.
- Crush the blackberries at the bottom of the shaker with the rosemary simple syrup.
- Pour in the vodka and shake for five seconds.

Pour the mixture through a strainer into a glass with ice and top with seltzer water.
Backcountry Burro
Ingredients
2 stocks of fresh mint leaves, bruised.
2 Oz. of tequila
Grated fresh ginger to taste
1 Tablespoon of lemon juice
1 Tablespoon of Agave syrup
Instructions
- Rip the leaves of the stocks and put them in the bottom of a shaker. Bruise them with a muddler or spoon.
- Pour in the tequila, lemon juice, agave syrup and add the grated fresh ginger.
- Shake for five seconds.
- Pour into a glass filled with ice.
- Garnish with mint leaves and grated ginger.
Rosemary Old Fashioned
Ingredients
2 Oz. Rye Whiskey
½ Oz. Rosemary Simple Syrup
2 Dashes of Orange Bitters
Rosemary Sprig
Orange peel to garnish
Instructions
- To make the rosemary syrup, combine equal parts water and sugar in a pot. Add several sprigs of fresh rosemary. Heat mixture until just barely simmering and remove from heat. Let the syrup steep for 10 minutes, and then remove the rosemary.
- In a rocks glass combine the whiskey, rosemary syrup, and orange bitters. Add ice into the glass.
- Garnish with a rosemary sprig and an orange peel.
Alpine Hot Cocoa
Ingredients
2 Oz. Peppermint Cinnamon Schnapps
A packet of Hot Chocolate Mix
5 Oz. of your favorite milk
Instructions
- Heat up the milk on the stove on medium heat.
- Mix in the peppermint cinnamon schnapps and hot chocolate mix.
Happy Hippie Kombucha
Ingredients
2 Oz. Vodka
2 Oz. of your favorite Kombucha
1 Oz. of lime juice
Seltzer water
Fruit to garnish (I like strawberries or blackberries)
Lime wedge to garnish
Instructions
- In a glass filled with ice; pour in the vodka, kombucha, and lime juice.
- Top off with seltzer water and garnish with your fruit of choice and a lime wedge.
